Life after death has always been an important why question of human throughout history. Sometimes the approach to afterlife among Iranians appeared in the monuments and motifs on them.

These monuments are sometimes the best narrators of the life of the deceased. The stories have been recounted in a simple way. Sometimes the deceased person is portrayed with a bunch of flowers next to it. The beads reflect how pious the person was, while other designs showed the occupation or gender. For example, blacksmithing tools and equipment such as scissors and sewing needle and thread were all indicative of being a tailor or blacksmith.

As for separation of women and men, a comb was often used. The comb was double-sided when representing a woman, and one-sided when representing a man.

The most commonly used forms appear in lion-stone graves. These lions are seen more frequently in Hamedan. Stone Lion is a symbol of athletic prowess and courage.
